Well, that sucked!

Today's long run was not fun! Friday the region was smacked with a lot of snow. Up to a foot in some areas. We were hoping that just maybe our trainer would call off the run. Ummmmm, no. He said it would be good practice for us to life our knees up higher. DAMN that is just mean.

Needless to say it was cold. I was running in so many layers! I felt like the kid brother in the Christmas Story when the mother was getting him ready for school! I can hardly wait to run in AZ. It is going to be like running in paradise. Even if it is 50 and raining it will be better than the crap we have been running in lately. We ran at the Parkway and even though the plowed a little there was still quite a bit of snow on the trail. It was like running in sand. I really wanted to go 2 hours, but I couldn't do it. At an 1 hour 51 minutes I was at the end of the trail and could see my car. I decided I had enough and wanted to go home.

My leg held up pretty well. Mostly because I was going so slow! I mean SLOW. My butt cheeks hurt more than my quad! Running in snow sure is a good workout for the hiney.

What are the Odds?!?!

It is funny how something you would think NEVER ever would happen..happen. Where you hear yourself saying "this doesn't happen to people like us" Well ladies and gentlemen, it has happened to my family. Something so unbelieveable I find it hard to write it down. What is it you ask? Lets just say it is life alterning for my entire family. One member of my clan and my parents will never, ever have to worry about money again. Can you guess what it is? If it starts with winning something that starts with the letter L and ends in the letter Y then you guessed it.

The entire family is in a state of shock. Trying to compute and wrap our brains around what has happened. All I can say is anything is possible.

A little snag in the running. For the past 4-5 weeks my left quad has been hurting. The pain has slowly increased to where after my tempo run last week I could barely make it from the van to the house. It was time to get it check-out. Went to the doc yesterday and it is a torn quad muscle. MOTHERFU**!!!

Hopefully I can give it some rest, do some alternative training and still be able to run the PF Chang Half in January. Getting old sucks.

Life Lesson

A Bridget Life Lesson....

People, do not trust automatic flushers in public restrooms. They may not flush. Just like spell check, you should always double check to make sure everything is correct. For instance, a person, like myself, may come into the bathroom, head for the stall and swoop in before a person can have a chance to double check everything went down. Instead, a person, like myself, finds a nasty surprise awaiting her. So please, look behind and down...if it brown...flush it down.
