Love the 80's!!!

In a few short weeks I will be heading back for my....gulp...20th HS reunion. I can't believe it has been twenty...freaking...where the hell did the time go...years. Some days it seems like yesterday. Boy did I love everything about the 80's. Duran Duran, Hall and Oats, Violent Femmes, Madonna, jean mini-skirts with white socks and keds, acid wash jeans and big ass hair. Aaaaaahhhhhhhhh...those were the days.

This past month I have been catching up with friends that I haven't talk to in YEARS. We have been catching up and remembering the past. What great memories. Others.... Wow, my only thought was how did we make it out alive!! Some of the shit we did back then. Damn. If my parents ever found out it would definitely send them to an early grave. Such as, hill coolers in 2 liters....peach schnapps....and much more. Can I go back?!

7.5 miles....check!

Sunday was the day I conquered the 7 mile hurdle! Woke up to 95 percent humidity, overcast, rainy morning. Called Trac and we talked about if we were going to run outside and decided to bite the bullet and run in the rain. If we were at a race we wouldn't be bagging out!

The rain was actually nice for the short time it rained. Around the 4 mile mark it would have been nice to have some moisture other than the humidity. Things were sticking that had no business sticking! It started getting really hard after mile 6. Okay, mile 5. No, mile 4. No matter. We kept trucking along and even managed to run all out the last .75. Which hurt. A lot.

Oh, and the second we stopped running it started to rain. Figures!

Next weekend. 8 miles. Lord help me. 8 miles. I am going to increase a half-mile each week, which will line up perfectly with the half at the end of October.

Cupcake Happiness

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. We are dog sitting and 4 out of the 6 are nervous Nellies when it comes to loud noises. Last night we were surprised at how well everyone did with the fireworks and firecrackers. Sure, there was lots of panting and some pacing, but overall no panic attacks. Thankfully everything died down in the neighborhood around midnight so all of us could get some sleep.

Today was a perfect day, 70's with little humidity....aaaahhhhhhhhhh...just perfect.

So I decided what a great time to try out some baking with our new convection oven! We finally got rid of our 70's yellow, only two burner's worked, maybe have the right temp, oven for a new sleek black convection, two oven, oven. Unfortunately, it has been way to hot or the humidity was awful to really bake anything. Until today.

Simple Chocolate cupcakes from VCTOTW. They came out perfect! Light, fluffy, perfect. I heart my new oven.

Homemade Pizza

First time I have ever made pizza from scratch. I have to say there is nothing like creating your own dough and sauce.

The dough and sauce recipe were Vegan with a Vengence. The crust was perfect! On the bottom of the pan I sprinkled corn meal and kosher salt. Oh man! Just that little bit of salt on the bottom........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................mmmmmmmmmmmmm......good.

Best part. I have plenty leftover for lunch tomorrow.

Running Blows Monkey Chunks

Huge stinky monkey chunks with bits of ham.

I know it doesn't make sense, but neither does running sometimes. That is my point!

Today I headed out at lunch for a 5.25 mile run. Ended up being a 4.33 run. My legs just weren't in the mood. There was no amount of sweet talking that was going to put them in the mood.

Sunday is my first ever 7.5 mile run. Hopefully there will be no sign of monkey chunks.
