Hello from the Midwest. We arrived in Beavercreek, Ohio to spend Christmas with our families today. The drive sucked! Rain and freakin' high winds. Holy moses! We stopped at a rest stopped and when I opened the van door I thought the wind was going to rip the door off its hinges. Driving a mini-van in this weather is like driving a beer can on wheels. Not fun.

We miss our hounds already. It is always so hard to leave NY and leave them behind. However, they love going to the sitters because they get so spoiled. One of these day I am sure they are going to refuse to don't come home.

Oh! Our foster boy Cutter was placed on Friday. I heard it went great the family just love him. Cutter's Christmas wish came true.

Well, tomorrow we start the whirlwind family tour. Christmas eve is with Bill's family and Christmas is with my parents. To prepare for my parents I brought a bottle of Tanqueray and two bottles of wine. That ought to do it.

My older brother couldn't make it home this Christmas. So it is up to me and my other brother, Jeff, to make dinner. Jeff really wanted me to make some vegan fare. It took me a long time to decide what to make and what could make the 9 hour drive. I decided to bring a loaf of Sourdough bread (thanks to Bazu for the awesome starter!) vegan double layer pumpkin cheesecake and I am going to make Herbed Scalloped Potatoes from Veganomicon at my parents.

The bread came out PERFECT!!! So did the cheesecake! I didn't want to make the cheesecake at my parents because I didn't want them to see me using tofu. I rather surprise them. Ha! The potatoes are easy to make and I brought all the fixin's with me.

To everyone out in bloggerland, have a wonderful, bright and Merry Christmas.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa:

All I want for Christmas is a family to love, protect and spoil me. Give me lots of kisses, tummy rubs, toys, and more toys. And from what I hear this is exactly what I am going to get this weekend! I am so excited!!

This whole retirement world is still new to me so I hope they will be patient as I learn the ropes because there is so much to learn. One thing I learned about this week is the couch! Where has this thing been all my life. I can snuggle and cuddle and most importantly roach! One of my most favorite things to do.

My other favorite thing is wrapping paper. It is so much fun to open my own presents! Can you put a roll of wrapping paper on the list? Oh, wait, my foster mom says no. She says that word a lot when I am chasing the cats. But seriously Santa, they asked to be chased! I don't hurt them. Honest! I just like to see what they are doing, but when foster mom says no, I listen. And she said I have been really really good at not chasing them. See. I am a good boy.
Thanks Santa. You can leave all my presents at my new home.
Sincerely yours,

Busy, busy, busy, busy! It seems we are behind in everything. How did that happen? Where did the freakin' time go!?!

Our foster boy is doing great. The boy is into EVERYTHING because he is so curious. I will be washing dishes and I will see him out of the corner of my eye go running by with something in his mouth. It is something he pulled out of the recycling bin, my slipper, Bill's shoe, or anything else he finds interesting. Everyday he makes us laugh and want to tear our hair out at the same time. It is like having a toddler in the house.

Tomorrow we are waiting for the winter storm to hit. Lets pray it isn't as bad as they are making it out to be.

Marloo Cutter

Say hello to our foster Marloo Cutter.
It has been awhile since we fostered a greyhound straight from the track, but this guy has made it easy for us. He is the easiest foster we've had. Not only that, he is adorable, fun and a HUGE cuddle bug. If he wasn't slotted for a family it would be extremely hard to give him up.
Marloo Cutter (we are calling him Cutter) is a 2.5 yr old blue fawn. He is mighty fine lookin'. Loves to play and is a fast learner. By the third day he has mastered the big stairs. He is also into everything! But that is only because he is so curious and he is only 2.
As for our guys....they tolerate him. Well, John is NOT happy he is here. Rim is indifferent and Maggie just looks at Cutter like he is an idiot.
Cutter is only with us for a few weeks, but boy will we miss him. He is going to be a great dog!
